A big power bank with 20,000mAh or more will deliver almost five charges for an iPhone 13 – and we’d recommend this size if you want to charge bigger batteries like those in an iPad or laptop. These are also about as big as you can bring on a flight (more on that below). EnergyCell’s portable charger is as basic as power banks get, with just a micro-USB input, a USB-A output and no support for any fast-charging standards. What’s more, it’s slow. In fact, our testing confirms what battery makers usually claim. A battery maker will claim between 60% and 70% efficiency, so that 10,000mAh battery will only give your phone around 6,000mAh of extra battery charge, at the least. In practice we find around 65% efficiency, though occasionally we can do even better. All of our tests were conducted using the same wall adapter and, when possible, USB-C or Micro-USB cable. This was done to eliminate any discrepancies with wall adapters and cable throughput. But for basic users who appreciate having a ton of juice on hand, the Powercore II 20,000mAh will get the job done.

You need a lot of power: Thankfully, the battery on the Tylt Bottle 2 isn't so big it adds too much weight, but that also means it isn't powerful enough for multiple charges. Think about how many electronic devices you use on the daily. It doesn't work like an AirTag over UWB, it's only Bluetooth, but it's useful if you misplace your battery in your office (or you have multiple batteries, like I do). You want a more portable option: Because of its combo nature, the Anker 733 is a bit bulky and cumbersome, but if you use it both ways, it's worth the trade-off in size to have such a useful device.Large power banks are likely to be more efficient than average and small power banks to be less efficient than average. Since large power banks also cost more money, this is reassuring as it means a high-quality product is giving you more juice for the energy you put into it.
