About this deal

The stories of Viv Anderson, Garry Birtles and Tony Woodcock are explored in a new film tied to the successes of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

They only add fuel to the fire that we really were a one-off in terms of what that set of players accomplished for the club, for the country and for the sport in general. It includes interviews with former Reds players, stunning images from our picture archives, columnists, and plenty more. The feature-length documentary relives the tale of European Cup winners and local heroes Viv Anderson, Garry Birtles and Tony Woodcock and how they rose to the top. When I was a kid, the last few seasons of what was then known as the first division had teams like Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds as permanent fixtures alongside the usual suspects of Spurs, Man U, Liverpool and Everton.Only a decade or so before I got into Football, Forest had climbed club football’s highest mountain, and conquered Europe, twice! He is also Managing Director of Funderbeam UK, and was formally Chief Marketing Officer at Championship Horse Racing (Racing League) and DelAgua. Eventually they succeeded in graduating from playing local junior football to winning the European Cup twice with Nottingham Forest in 1979 and 1980. Local Heroes explores football’s political and cultural transformation over the years and draws parallels between life as a footballer in the 1970s to life in the footballing world now.

Also, what bright spark had the idea to make a documentary about three lads from Nottingham but have it voiced by some cockney geezer? Sharing their fascinating journey, the trio recount their rise to fame and the obstacles they faced along the way, and how, during a time of economic difficulty, they persevered and prevailed. It would have been easy to sanitise this by getting the boys on a golf course in Dubai or a stark studio somewhere and recording the thing in a condensed time frame. There is footage so dark in this documentary that you can hardly see anything, and it’s just a person sat in a room. John Warrington, Founder and CEO of Krafty Entertainment, expressed his excitement over the partnership with Trinity, while Andy Taylor, Commercial Director for Trinity, spoke highly of Krafty Entertainment's world-class team of production talent.

Reelgood is the most extensive streaming guide in the US and UK, with every TV show and movie available online. Oli is the Founder of The Sporting Blog, and enjoys writing about tennis, football, boxing and sports experiences. What comes across in the documentary is that all three of these guys have each others backs in times of great need. And NottinghamshireLive can exclusively reveal a trailer as Local Heroes prepares for its big release, coming just as the current Reds side prepare for their decisive final two games in their bid for Premier League survival.
