About this deal

Kodak's UltraMax 400 is a high-speed daylight-balanced color negative film offering a wide exposure latitude for greater versatility, as well as a fine grain structure with consistent and accurate colors.

I am trying to find something similar to these Kodak films that is available in bulk to roll myself. This image is part of a batch I developed in partially-exhausted chemicals, which yielded thinner negatives. Even with a perfect metering technique, UltraMax will exhibit different looks depending on the colour, intensity, and complexity of ambient light. Even when enlarged, Ultra Max 400 Film delivers excellent sharpness and fine grain for crisp, clear pictures. The smaller roll is usually slightly cheaper, but the larger roll is usually more cost-efficient per photo - especially when you take into account the fixed development costs 2.This affordable film and the convenient minilab service were a perfect combo for my lifestyle back then. I like Superia a good amount but the green cast that comes with everything Fuji kind of puts me off of it, if I am honest. The higher ISO rating is one of the prime reasons why UltraMax is so versatile, as you get fewer images that are underexposed when using the film.

The fidelity of those scans can’t be compared to my 40MP dedicated film scanner and the flexibility of a digital negative . This overall color accuracy makes the film perfect for travel, or for shooting landscapes or cityscapes. Compared to the ColorPlus 200 and Gold 200 which has an ISO rating of 200, UltraMax has an ISO rating of 400 and is faster by a whole stop than the former two. London Camera Exchange Limited, London Camera Exchange Solent Limited and London Camera Exchange Portsmouth Limited are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, register numbers 742719, 761264, 789602 and act as a credit broker and not a lender.Like most Kodak films, its warm tones make UltraMax a good portrait film and its strong saturation works well for landscapes as well.

Here’s a solid yellow I got with ultramax last week–it really has a lot of saturation https://pixelfed. But, the fact that it can s tand toe-to-toe against professional-grade films at a much cheaper rate alone speaks volumes about how good this film is.Optimised colour precision technology provides consistently bright, vibrant colours with accurate skin-tone reproduction for natural-looking people pictures. The Ultramax offers enough crispness to satisfy while being much better value than it's full of herself sister, Portra 400. Your film’s dynamic range measures how well it can render shadows and highlights in the same shot and how contrasty the results will look. The wide exposure latitude of the film ensures that just by shooting at the film’s box speed, you will end up getting well-exposed images.
